The Trip

The Oxfam Challenge is a innovative fundraising initiative and an incredible way for supporters to make a difference whilst exploring some of the most unique places on earth.  Each trip allows the participants to experience first-hand the work of Oxfam in the country by visiting a project or an Oxfam country office. The Oxfam Challenge is run in partnership between Oxfam Australia and Intrepid Travel with all funds reaching Oxfam Australia going to its important program work.

Thats the official definition to cover the basics, but there really is no way to fully describe the incredible adventure that awaits. We have been strong supporters of Oxfam Australia for many years, drawn to their work by the intrigty of their often bold campaigns and supprting their work through regular giving and an embarassing addiction to the Fairtrade cocoa, darks chocolates and coffee through their store. When we saw a way to combine our holiday time with fundraising for Oxfam Australia and the incredible chance to ride from Vietnam to Cambodia, we dove straight in.

Joining the Oxfam Cambodia Challenge for 2008 means we will fundraise $11000 for Oxfam Australia and train for an incredible 480km ride from Ho Chi Min City in Vietnam to Siem Reap in Cambodia. Resting up after these two weeks of busy streets and dusty trails, we will have journeyed along the banks of the Mekong River, seen the archaeological wonders of the ancient Angkor temples and taken in the serenity of the Khmer temple at Banteay Srei. Just as important to us, we will also be given the chance to observe the Oxfam program in action in Prey Kebass and visit the infamous killing fields at Choeung Ek.

Trip itinerary:
Day 1 - Meet at airport for International flights.
Day 2 - Arrive in Saigon
Day 3 - Saigon to Tay Ninh
Day 4 - Tay Ninh to Svay Rieng
Day 5 - Svay Rieng to Prey Veang
